Team History

Riptide Dragon Boat Crew launched way back in 1999. Along with the longevity, we’ve got loyalty – some of the original paddlers are still around! The team includes more than 40 paddlers racing in 2 different boats – one competitive boat, and one developing boat for newer paddlers.

The composition of the team is all business professionals – with full-time careers including marketing directors, lawyers, bankers, and even nuclear engineers. Although everyone has full lives outside of dragon boat all of the crew take their team membership very seriously, and many train hard all year long. Because of this Riptide regularly wins medals and trophies at Ontario’s and Quebec’s toughest competitions.

The sponsorship includes the following:

• Your logo on the front of the team jersey, worn at 6 festivals in 2008 (May-Sept)
• Your logo on a large banner, prominently displayed at all festivals (Riptide prints the banner, your company simply supplies a logo file)
• Your company’s name listed in front of the Riptide name all year (ie. "Your Company" Riptide Dragon Boat Crew) and announced on the PA at all festivals every time they mention Riptide (ie. “…here comes "Your Company" Riptide down the course!”)
